Psalm 23

My aunt passed away last week. In the aftermath of her death, everything normal disappeared, and suddenly I was surrounded with family, with children, with friends, with flowers, with food... and with her three beloved dogs.

Today I said goodbye to the dogs, as they found a new home with a wonderful family: the arrival of which taught me the meaning of "godsend." I also photographed all these flowers sent to our family in honor of my wonderful Aunt Joy.

When they found her body, my aunt's Bible was open to Psalm 23. So that is where my heart is, today.

Aunt Joy, you are dearly missed, and I will love you forever.

Judges 10-21, and the Book of Ruth

Some really disturbing stories in this week's reading (and SAD... the daughter of Jephthah part was just flat out depressing)... with just a little bit of hope thrown in, as well as some beautiful imagery involving Manoah and Ruth, which I have pulled from for this week's photos (some favorite new re-edits from a family shoot).

Judges 1-9

Coincidence that my brother came home from Afghanistan the same week I read Judges chapter 1-9? I think not.

I took these photographs at the airport when we picked him up... the words and phrases are all pulled from the text of Judges 1-9.

God bless the USA.
