Proverbs

I wore a lovely hat and pretty necklace to church today. It rained, and my hat and necklace seemed bright and happy against the greyness of the sky.

I came home to do my Bible project and immediately stumbled upon these words:

"My child, obey the teachings of your parents, and wear their teachings as you would a lovely hat or a pretty necklace." Proverbs 1:8-9

We must wear our wisdom and our faith as if they were bright, shining necklaces and beautiful, lovely hats... And then they will shine into the darkness. :)

A few more selections from my reading that I absolutely loved were:
"Singing to someone in deep sorrow is like pouring vinegar in an open cut." Proverbs 25:20

"Good news from far away refreshes like cold water when you are thirsty." Proverbs 25:25

"Don't eat too much honey or always want praise." Proverbs 25:27

"Gold and silver are tested in a red-hot furnace, but we are tested by praise." Proverbs 27:20

"But you must defend those who are helpless and have no hope." Proverbs 31:8

"With her own hands she gladly makes clothes." Proverbs 31:13

"And she always works hard." Proverbs 31:17

"She does her own sewing, and everything she wears is beautiful." Proverbs 31:22

Joshua Chapters 1-6

This week I started reading the book of Joshua (the sixth book of the Bible)! The following verses really stood out to me, so I overlaid the text over five different edited versions of the same photo... which was a dreamy outtake from a photo shoot I did earlier this week for a sweet, sweet family from church. (Lyren and family, you are the best!) I also found the story of the rocks in Joshua Chapter 4 to be really interesting, especially since the clock is divided into 12 hours and time really seems to be paramount these days.

Exodus 16-28

All right, so I am FASCINATED by four of the chapters I just read in Exodus... they include God's instructions for super-special design projects.

As a designer, it is such a cool thing to read Exodus chapters 25, 26, 27, and 28 and just imagine God thinking up these beautiful garments and holy place furnishings in His mind's eye and then describing them to Moses so they could be made.

Also as a designer, I am REALLY wanting to go make some hats out of blue, purple, and red wool. It seems as though those are God's favorite colors. :)

Genesis 26-50

I finally made it to the end of Genesis... Yes, I've heard most of the stories before, but not quite how I hear them now. Thank you Lord God, for your Word.
